The main port is located on the east coast of the island and is busy with ferry crossings which connect the island to the port of Kyllini on the mainland. On the northern tip is the port of St Nikolas which has a ferry crossing daily to the nearby island of Kefalonia.
Other harbours include the wonderful Laganas bay on the south coast with its two uninhabited islands of Marathonisi and Peluso. The Vromi bay is a deep inlet and the only anchorage on the west side of the island.
