HOW TO GET TO ITHAKA
Via Car, Bus or Ferry Boat:
There are several options for reaching Ithaca by ferry boat. You can drive to the ports on the mainland or take the bus from Athens which has a regular service to all of the ports mentioned.
From the port of Patras there is a ferry boat which departs twice a day and stops at Sami in Kefalonia first and then on to Vathy in Ithaca.
From the port of Astakos the ferry departs twice a day directly to Ithaca
It is also possible to take a ferry from Nidri in Lefkada directly to Ithaca.
Aeroplane:
There is no airport on Ithaca but to reach the island by plane you need to first fly to Argostoli airport in nearby Kefalonia and then take a ferry boat to the island of Ithaca.
Flights from at El Venizelos Airport, Athens leave daily to Kefalonia and the journey is approx 50 minutes. There are also charter flights from many European airports directly to Kefalonia operating in the summer months between May and October.
